Get A Jump On The International Eating Challenge In Deep Ellum.

For the next two weeks, the popular review site Yelp.com is organizing an ongoing deal event called Passport to Deep Ellum, which will include lots of different discounts and special events at several of the neighborhood's restaurants, bars and music venues. By offering deals, the site hopes to encourage folks to spend time in Deep Ellum who may otherwise steer clear of the entertainment district.

Um, OK. But, hey, it's probably good to shake things up from time to time, anyway.

One of the week's best deals is the International Eating Club challenge, which will probably take the full two weeks to complete. Speaking of challenges, there's a pretty interesting pub quiz that now goes down Mondays at Texas Theatre. Or you could try to out-fancy us at The Libertine. But, be forewarned, we are going to go all bowtie on your asses.

International Eating Club in Deep Ellum
As part of the Yelp Passport to Deep Ellum, the site is throwing down an additional incentive/challenge for people that like to eat in Deep Ellum. Diners that eat at Cane Rosso, The Free Man, Angry Dog, Lemongrass, Aca Y Alla and Deep Sushi between today until May 20 will win gift certificates to all of those spots. See the above link for additional details and instructions.

Melvins at Trees
Though they didn't get their own chapter in Our Band Could Be Your Life, Michael Azerrad's seminal work on the underground indie scene that paved the way for the mainstream success of bands like Nirvana in the '90s, The Melvins were still arguably one of the more influential bands of that period. Just about everyone from the Seattle grunge scene credits the band for pioneering that sludgy sound.

Monster Food Truck Rally at Double Wide
Monday, Monday, Monday! The Easy Slider, Rock & Roll Taco, Little Vessel Grill, Three Lions, TX Delicioso and Enticed food trucks will be parked up at Double Wide tonight!. J. Charles and Ryan Thomas Becker will be providing some acoustic tunage! Deep Eddy will be hosting a “Cheap O Happy Hour” from 5 to 9 p.m!

Geeks Who Drink pub quiz at Texas Theatre
The Geeks Who Drink pub quiz has found a new home once again, this time at the Texas Theatre. George Quartz hosts the latest incarnation of the costumed, trash talk-filled, trivia night.

Fancy Monday at Libertine Bar
Typically, people that tend to hang out in bars on Monday nights are either service industry folks or professional drinkers. You know the type. They're the same ones that stay in on St. Patrick's Day — or “amateur night” as they so often call it. This is who The Libertine had in mind when they decided to start classing up the joint on Mondays with sharply-dressed staff and drink discounts for patrons who put a little extra effort into their going out. Suits, ties and the like are strongly encouraged. You stay classy, Dallas.
