Dive Into Your Weekend Tonight at the ATTPAC.

Thursdays are typically looked at as nothing more than a stepping-stone to the weekend, just one more day to get through until the sweet, sweet smell of Friday afternoon arrives. But with Martin Luther King Jr. Day lurking around this weekend's corner, why not take full advantage of what the Metroplex has to offer and kickstart your long weekend tonight? From deep-sea adventures to partying for a cause, North Texas has you covered this evening, for sure.

Nat Geo Live! with Robert Ballard at the Winspear
The oceans of the world are mysterious places filled with unknown creatures and still-undiscovered regions. Explorers have only skimmed the surface (pun intended) of the word's oceans, but Robert Ballard, a distinguished deep-sea explorer, hopes to change that. Ballard is a hardcore ocean lover. He helped discover the Titanic (sorry James Cameron) and countless other shipwrecks around the world. Spend an evening with him tonight at the AT&T Performing Arts Center with tickets starting at $25.

Pablo Francisco at Addison Improv
In the mood for some rib-damaging laughs? Pablo Francisco kicks off his three-night special engagement tonight at the Addison Improv. The comedian is known for his impersonations, most notably his dramatic and fictionalized movie trailer voice-over bit.

Lincoln Durham at Dan’s Silverleaf
Lincoln Durham started his career when he won a fiddle-playing competition at the ripe old age of 10. Durham has since expanded on his musical talents, though. These days, he plays the acoustic slide guitar, too, prompting some critics to compare his music to the likes of Townes Van Zandt. Tickets are $7 and show starts at 9 p.m.

Party To Fight Human Trafficking at Hailey's Club
Hailey's Club in Denton is bringing together some amazing local and underground talent to help fight human trafficking tonight. With an eclectic line-up of hip-hop, progressive rock and folk artists, this affair is sure to have something for everyone. Plus, it's for a good cause. And tickets are just $3. Doors are at 7 p.m.

Kirby Brown, J. Charles & the Trainrobbers and Wesley Geiger at the Prophet Bar
Dallas-sprung singer-songwriter/rocker Kirby Brown will be celebrating the release of his newest single, “On the East Side,” tonight at the Prophet Bar, where he'll be joined by area alt-country favorites J. Charles & the Trainrobbers and Wesley Geiger.

Dallas Stars Ice Breaker at American Airlines Center
Prior to opening their lockout-shortened season on Saturday, the Stars are holding their annual Ice Breaker event tonight at the AAC. Both parking and admission to the event, which features an open practice and an autograph session, are free. It's a nice gesture, to be sure. Welcome back, hockey!
