Do Something Good.

After turning in the worst April in franchise history, and then trailing in the standings for the better part of the year, the Texas Rangers rallied behind its #NeverEverQuit motto, defeating the Los Angeles Angels to clinch its first AL West title since 2011. They straight up came and took it.

It was certainly one of the more magical seasons in team history. And, more importantly, October baseball is back, baby.

Unfortunately, the Rangers' first playoff game doesn't come until Thursday against the Blue Jays. Worry not, as there's plenty to keep you busy in the meantime. Take tonight, for instance.

Alt-J at South Side Ballroom
Despite any backlash forever buzzing British indie-electro outfit alt-J may have received thus far for its over-hyped first record, it hasn't seemed to slow the band down too much. After selling out this same venue almost exactly one year ago, the band looks to repeat the feat thanks to some ACL spillover action. San Fermin opens.

AGFA Secret Screening at Alamo Drafthouse (Free)
Once a month Alamo Drafthouse will hold screenings of rare 35mm prints — everything from b-movies to classics. The thing is, you won't know what movie they'll be showing that night until the lights dim and the projectors start rolling. Good, bad, or otherwise, though, your tickets won't cost a thing.

Arcade Fire: The Reflektor Tapes at Alamo Drafthouse
In this quasi-documentary, concert and recording studio footage from Arcade Fire's Refklector period are woven together to give a vague impression of how that No. 1 album came to be. For what it's worth the film comes courtesy of 2013 Sundance Grand Jury Prize winner Kahlil Joseph.

Joyce Carol Oates, Natasha Trethewey at Horchow Auditorium
Best-selling authors Joyce Carol Oates and Natasha Trethewey will be at the DMA tonight as part of the museum's Distinguished Writers speaking series. The latter will even be debuting a new poem said to be inspired by the works in the DMA collection.
