So reads the entire IMDB synopsis of 1951 stag film, Smart Alec. But don’t let the brief, somewhat nondescript summation mislead you: Before access to pornographic materials was as easy as a few keystrokes on the ol’ laptop, underground films were passed around in secret, often viewed at bachelor parties and such.

In that era, Smart Alec was regarded as one of the all-time most popular films in the genre. And its star, Dallas’ own Candy Barr, has been called by many “the first pornographic star.”
