Cheer On The Mavs As They Try The Linsanity Defense.

For the second night in a row, the biggest event in town is taking place at the AAC — this time courtesy of your world champion Dallas Mavericks. A pair of weekly cinema events have also been making Tuesday a default night to catch some pretty special films of both the award-winning variety and the how-the-hell-did-this-ever-get-made set. Cowboy Indian Bear is also another good option tonight for fans of the band who'd prefer to catch them performing in an actual venue over a cramped donut shop during this weekend's 35 Denton festival.

Dallas Mavericks vs. New York Knicks at American Airlines Center
Last time rising star Jeremy Lin was in town, he became the first player to log 28 points, 14 assists, and five steals against a defending championship team. Tonight, the Mavs look to get some revenge as they try to prevent a repeat performance by Mr. Linsanity.

John Walker, Blixaboy, Convextion at Elm Street Bar
This cursed spot has been home to a handful of different bars over the last few years, never quite establishing a consistent image for itself. But if they keep booking solid lineups of DJs like tonight's, then the most current incarnation of the Elm Street Bar and Lounge might have a chance at sticking around just yet.

Tuesday Night Trash: Roma Violenta at Texas Theatre
We love how opposite the two weekly film series' are at the Magnolia Theatre and Texas Theatre, with the former showing the best-of-the-best films and the latter opting to run with the worst-of-the-worst. This week's offering is Roma Violenta, an ultra-violent grindhouse-style flick of a rogue detective turning to vigilante justice.

Cowboy Indian Bear at 2826 Arnetic
Cowboy Indian Bear of Lawrence, Kansas, and the similarly-named Austin outfit Cowboy and Indian are both playing 35 Denton this weekend. The band with the bear headlines the Thursday spot at Denton Square Donuts, while the sans bear group lead things off over at the main stage on Friday. Cowboy Indian Bear also will be playing a warm-up set tonight at Arnetic, showing off their rotation of vocals and constant instrument switching.

The Big Movie: North by Northwest at Magnolia Theatre
The week before hundreds of bands descend upon Austin for South by Southwest, the folks at D Magazine and the Magnolia Theatre have arranged a screening of the Hitchcock classic. Clever, aren't they? South by Southwest, of course, is right around the corner.

Earth, Wind & Fire at Meyerson Symphony Center
EWF, one of the earliest popular jazz fusion groups of all-time, not only has had traditionally one of our favorite horn sections, but is also out out some of our favorite vinyl to put on while we clean our apartment. The current incarnation of the group plays at the gorgeous Meyerson Symphony Center tonight.
