Here Comes The Boom.

We've always known that not getting enough sleep is a bad thing for one's body. According to one new study, though, an irregular sleep routine can result in irrevocable brain damage.

Which, if it's true, would totally suck.

Given that the theory has only been tested on mice so far, though, maybe the best thing to do for now might be just to forget about it.

Well, at least for tonight.

I mean, have you seen what all is going down tonight?

Red Bull Sound Select presents Le1f at the Double Wide
New York rapper/producer Le1f is best known for his unorthodox approach to everything he touches. No matter how mainstream or safe your hip-hop allegiances may lie, you're probably at least somewhat tangentially familiar with his work. For instance, Le1f is the entity responsible for producing the beat behind Das Racist's viral hit,”Combination Pizza Hut and Taco Bell.” As baffling as so many people found that track at the time, Le1f's own tracks tread exponentially less familiar territory. And as one of hip-hop's first openly gay emcees, he's proven his career to be groundbreaking both onstage and off. Dallas' Dark Rooms and Denton's Vulgar Fashion open this month's Sound Select offering. And DJ/producer Ynfynyt Scroll will be spinning all night long. Also, there will be karaoke. And many other gun things. Also? Like the previous months' Red Bull-sponsored parties, this one will cost just $3 to attend with an RSVP right here. Otherwise, it's $10 at the door. — Cory Graves

Benny Benassi at Lizard Lounge
What has power tool enthusiast Benny Benassi done since crafting the club anthem of 2003? The answer — aside from producing a couple of hits for Chris Brown — is not a whole lot. Still, “Satisfaction,” was pretty cool. — CG

Classixx at the House of Blues' Cambridge Room
After years of touring through Dallas on the strength of their remixes and singles alone, L.A. production duo Classixx finally got around to releasing a proper debut LP of its own last year. At this show, the band continues to celebrate that release, called Hanging Gardens. The short amount of time that's passed since the release date isn't a concern; with a catalog that serves as a fresh, house-influenced update on '70s dance classics, this duo has firmly entrenched itself as one of the more interesting acts of the nu disco movement. — Pete Freedman

Carlos Mencia at Addison Improv
Did you miss former Fear Factor host Joe Rogan when he was in town doing stand-up a few nights ago? Noted joke-stealer Carlos Mencia will be in town for the next few nights, perhaps even performing some of Rogan's exact material. — Porschia Paxton

Silver Linings at Kettle Art
A group exhibition featuring “silver” painting, illustration and black-and-white photography exhibition will open tonight and continue to run until April 12 at Kettle Art. Pro tip: Black and white attire is recommended for those who plan on attending tonight's opening. — PP

Fresh 45s at Crown and Harp
For this month's edition of their third Thursday monthly DJs Spinderella, JT Donaldson and Jay Clipp will be joined by local hip-hop treasure Gensu Dean in spinning nothing but vinyl 45s all night long. — CG

Dallas Comedy Festival at Dallas Comedy House
The annual, week-long comedy fest rolls on with some touring stand-up acts and back-to-back improv shows. — CG

The Big Lebowski Quote-a-Long at Alamo Drafthouse
Tonight at Alamo, they'll be showing a special quote-a-long version of everybody's favorite stoner-dude-mystery-comedy hybrid — as if you needed the added subtitles to quote the ever-loving hell out of this thing. For our money, it's the Coen Brothers' best film, Fargo be damned. — Jordyn Walters

Revamp Reveal Party at The Gypsy Wagon
Carley Seale and her Wagoneers in all of their BoHo chicness will reveal a redesigned interior of the Dallas boutique today, all while showing off new jewelry works by Richard Schmidt in a trunk show from the La Grange jeweler. They're also promoting 20 and 30 percent-off sales for select items. And if one wear's previous items sold at the boutique, you can be entered to win a $100 gift card. — PP
