At This Wearable Art Show, The Crowds Were The Gallery.

Earlier This Month At The WAAS Gallery, Performers Dressed Daringly And Boldly To Make Powerful (And Gorgeous) Statements On The Importance Of Expression.

On Saturday, November 17, artists and creatives of all stripes gathered on the top floor of South Dallas’ WAAS Gallery to quite literally wear art as part of an interactive and progressive event deemed Next Level.

Curated by the travelling Pussy Power House collective’s Corinne Loperfiedo, the event promoted that female-focused community’s mission of self-love and personal expression, with Loperfiedo and other wearable art designers — including such talents as Neon Zinn, Bre Bitz +Bobby Dangerously, BioGlitz and Dallas’ own The Color Condition — providing outfits for the night’s diverse crowd of guests to observe and even purchase.

Some attendees got in on the fun themselves, too, either by wearing pieces of their own to the event, by engaging with the pieces brought by the designers or by enjoying such on-site activations as photo booths and body glitter art stations.

But those who just came to simply gawk at the gorgeous pieces on display were able to do so rather immersively through engaging performances from Relvin, Tha Mystics, Bobby + Bre, Traimannequin and Jordan Jones, who roamed freely throughout the space, strutting and/or dancing throughout the course of the event while donning stimulating and colorful pieces from the Loperfiedo’s hand-selected show participants.

As the above photo set shows, it was an inclusive, inviting and colorful evening, a night so filled with encouragement that felt impossible for anyone to feel out of place at it.

In all, it made for a powerful artistic statement — one that this event literally wore on its sleeve.
