Relativity Outdoors Is A New Kind of Outfitter.

“Glamping” is a real thing — not, somewhat surprisingly, a word we made up just now to combine “glamour” and “camping.” Turns out some other genius came up with that first. Duncanville-raised entrepreneur Roger Bakos wasn’t that guy. But he is helping to bring the glamping trend to town.

“I had worked in clothing retail since I was 19,” Bakos says. “I always felt we were just chasing trends. I wanted to offer fashion rooted with a purpose.”

Combining his experience at outlets such as Urban Outfitters with his studies in anthropology, he launched a new start-up, Relativity Outdoors at Mockingbird Station.

“In the outdoor world, fashion is typically not a focus,” Bakos says. “I wanted to merge the two categories that haven’t met. And, having Dallas as the location of the first concept store I needed to tailor our offerings to a city aesthetic. Commuter-friendly and human-powered endeavors is what shapes our offerings.”
