Plano's Suburbia Music Festival Announces Its Lineup.
Since last August, when we first caught wind that an outdoor, Live Nation-produced, two-day music festival was coming to Plano's Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve, our minds have been swirling at the possibilities.
Mostly, though, our imaginations were all we had — well, except for a few hints here and there about what to expect.
Today, though, most of our queries have been answered as, just moments ago, Live Nation formally announced the lineup set to play at the first-ever Suburbia Music Festival on that fest's site. Organizers also formally announced the date for this affair (Saturday, May 3, and Sunday, May 4) and a starting $79.50 ticket price for two-day passes. Tickets will go on sale Saturday, January 25, at noon. Live Nation subscribers and Citi card holders will be able to purchase presale tickets starting at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 21.
Notable performers on the bill include electronic pop hero David Guetta, roots rock favorites Alabama Shakes, hip-hop up-and-comer J. Cole, indie pop darlings Tegan and Sara, livetronica outfit Big Gigantic and jam crowd go-tos Slightly Stoopid. More bands are set to be announced as the festival approaches.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, but disappointing all the same: Outkast will not appear on the bill. Recently, the legendary duo announced that it would be performing at a whopping 40 music festivals in 2014 — 40! — as part of its reunion. Worth nothing here is the fact that Outkast — along with Vampire Weekend, Foster The People, Earl Sweatshirt and many other interesting names — will indeed be appearing at another new Live Nation festival set to launch this year, the Big Guava Music Festival in Tampa.
On the other hand, we did know that this thing was set to be a grower of sorts, with future years already up for discussion.
