The Fvcking Kittens – “Come Home.”
RIYL: Metal records cats call by name.
What else you should know: Fresh off playing the Deep Ellum Metal Fest last weekend, new hard rocking Dallas power trio The Fvcking Kittens continue promoting their debut EP Highly Toxic.

Anchored by original Kill the Client guitarist Stevan Koye, the threesome mash together a wide variety of heavy genres, from the usual metal and hardcore punk to grunge, blues and southern rock of the blackest variety. The hope being that a number of underrepresented genres are represented at once, filling several holes in the local scene, and appealing to a wider audience than any of those subgenres typically do on their own.

Over the riffage of down-tuned guitars and distorted bass, we get an off-kilter re-telling of the Biblical parable of the prodigal son, thanks to some guest lyrical contributions from Kenneth Sparks. And with its Monster Magnet meets Eagles of Death Metal vibes, it’s a good one to start with before wading into the heavier territory covered elsewhere on the EP.
