Maren Morris Duets With Alicia Keys, And Another New Fest Gives Reverchon Park A Shot.

On September 19, The Voice kicks off its 11th season with new judges Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys. And if form holds true, there’ll be a whole new crop of North Texans to root on this season.

One North Texas ex-pat will definitely being joining Team Alicia this winter, in a sense, when Maren Morris and Keys team up to perform duets of each other’s tunes on a December episode of CMT’s Crossroads. It’ll be just like that time Kacey Musgraves and Katy Perry appeared together on the program back in 2014.

Speaking of things coming together: OmniFest will attempt to do what the Bulladora Music Experience could not, and that is proving Reverchon Park a viable site for a multi-day music festival. Barring inclement weather, flooding, et al, the EDM/hip-hop fest will take over the park for three days this Labor Day weekend.

Boding well for the fest’s success is the fact that one of its organizers, Ray Allen (not the basketball player) has at least some experience putting together fests at nontraditional locales, like his upstart Go Figure fest at Reunion Park last month. On the other hand, that thing was cancelled before it had a chance to fail or succeed, and tbh, a part of us remains unconvinced it was ever a real thing in the first place. Anyway, for a full lineup of promised performers, head here.

Similarly, Tomcats West owner Rustin Luther hopes to prove the Expo Park venue formerly known as The Underpass can also be a viable live music spot. A soft opening for the spot to be henceforth known as The Dirty 30 is slated for September, with an eye on a big grand opening in early 2017.

Still awaiting her own big debut is Snow tha Product, who is three years into Atlantic deal with little more than June’s Half Way There, pt. 1 EP to show for it. Oh, and that her song, “Not Tonight,” is on Madden 17, which came out today. Oh, and that she just put out this “Snooze” video last week.

Another new video finds Dallas hip-hop proponent, Mountain Dew‘s Green Label Sound branding effort giving some more shine to the Triple D and its illegal street racing scene. Also featured in the clip are The Outfit, TX, who take the film crew to an underground party in The Grove. It’s a cool watch.

The small screen vets also put out a new video of their own this week for the new “Visions of Grandeur” single. It’s from the new Green Lights: Everythang Goin’ mixtape, a title we’re sure is more of a reference to that ubiquitous neon tower that lights up the Dallas skyline, and not a nod to their newfound soda buddies. Probably.

Finally, Atlanta duo TK N Cash teamed up with Dorrough back in the spring on a track called “Slay.” More recently, it’s finally been giving the video treatment. Check it out below.
