Welcome to Song of the Day, where we hip you to all the new local releases you should be caring about. By highlighting one new North Texas-sprung tune every week day, our hope is that you’ll find something new to love about the rich and abundant DFW music scene five days a week.

RIYL: “Solitude in E Minor.”
What Else You Should Know: 10k.caash dropped a new collaborative single titled “Haunted Bikini Bottom,” and it is *dolphin noise* fire.

As you can probably infer from the name itself, this new track from the Dallas rapper is gratuitous with its Spongebob Squarepants references. So, y’know, if you were a kid at any point over the past 20 years, this should be in your wheelhouse.

“Haunted Bikini Bottom” is a grimy trap banger with a tone of comedy so obvious that even 10k.caash and the artists featured on the single are heard laughing throughout its three-minute runtime. These collaborators, by the way, include none other than New York rapper Rico Nasty, fellow DFW native G.U.N. and Philadelphia-based artist and producer MattOx.

It goes without saying that many of the bars on this track are funny. (In a cosmic sort of way.) Between each artist are tongue-in-cheek lines such as:

  • “I got Krusty Krab pizza / The Krusty Krab pizza is just for you and me”
  • “Squidward’s house got your bitch blowin’ my clarinet”
  • “Which one of y’all is Dirty Dan? That’s me!”

Even beyond those, there are countless other references, from “CHOCOLATE!” to “Sweet Victory.” Sometimes you can’t quite hear what the artists are spitting, but maybe Santa will give you a dictionary so you can understand what they just said.

Still, with features this impressive and the release of yet another song with viral potential, we stand even more firm in the belief that 10k.caash will soon blow up — not before it goes right to his thighs, though.
