Krum Police Are Already Warning People About Tonight’s Young Thug Show In The Rural Town.

As we’ve previously noted, the performance from Atlanta rapper Young Thug that is scheduled to go down in Krum tonight as part of an event being called Regardless Fest is looking like one of the stranger events to go down in the region in recent memory.

And it’s only getting weirder, looks like.

Never mind fact that this show was initially supposed to happen on the University of North Texas campus or that it was moved a few times before finding a home at the event space/rodeo grounds of Hacienda Ranch just outside of incorporated limits of the small rural town Krum — or, y’know, how weird (or great?) the idea of seeing Young Thug at a rodeo is. Never mind, also, that inclement weather forecasts could find the whole thing turning into a muddy mess.

The most recent head-turner related to this one — which technically kicked off already, as doors opened at 3 p.m. — is the fact that the Krum Police Department is making it publicly known that they are well aware of this event, taking to social media yesterday to warn the town’s civilians about the show and to ask for their help in reporting “any suspicious activity.”

See their full statement on the matter below.

Note the promise of “an EXTREMELY HEAVY police presence” and the reveal of backup being at the ready from Texas DPS and the Denton County Sheriff’s Office. I don’t think it’s reading too much into it to say that the Krum cops are basically prepared for this whole thing to go sour, right?

Grab your popcorn, folks. This one’s gonna be pretty interesting. Stay tuned for updates and more information as it comes.

Update at 7:39 p.m.: Well, here’s a surprise turn. Despite word to the contrary being spread by its Twitter account, Regardless Fest’s organizers now confirm to Central Track that Young Thug will not be performing this evening.

“Young Thug’s flight keeps getting delayed due to the weather, so his management cancelled it,” says a representative for Pentone Productions, the entity behind the event, via email.

And yet Regardless Fest will still go on: In the same email, organizers say the rest of the billed performers — including Houston’s Trill Sammy, locals Go Yayo and Yung Nation plus plenty of other regional products — will still perform this evening. They also say that a Young Thug performance in the area will be rescheduled for a later date, and they encourage ticket purchasers to hold on to their tickets, which they say will be honored at that later date.

Whether keeping tonight’s event going is worth the effort, though — that’s another matter altogether. Already, Twitter is abuzz with complaints about the venue.

For one thing, the grounds are as muddy as predicted.

Also, it appears as if, beyond there being a dearth of vendors on site, not much has happened out at Hacienda Ranch since it opened its doors to ticket-holders at 3 p.m.

Seems like there’s not gonna be much for the Krum police to bust up after all.
