Dorian Electra Moves Past Gender At Deep Ellum Art Co.

[PHOTOS] On Saturday Night In Deep Ellum, A Proud New Wave Of Queer Pop Stars Lead Revelers Through A Sweaty, Sexy Dance Party.

Back in October, when English pop star Charli XCX rolled through the region as one of the opening acts at Taylor Swift’s AT&T Stadium stop, she made sure to create a party more along her own boundary-pushing tastes in Dallas too, joining forces with her frequent collaborator Dorian Electra for a memorable — and insanely packed out — Deep Ellum Art Co.-hosted affair that celebrated all things queer.

Buoyed by the good times had then, Dorian Electra returned to Deep Ellum Art Co. this past Saturday night for a second taste.

Though this all-night queer dance party might’ve been smaller in scale, it was no less vibrant. Along with a performance from the outspoken advocate against gender norms who topped the bill, the night featured a DJ set from Charli XCX producer umru, and opening sets from Austin’s Boy Sim and Dallas’ own Fagedelics and Dali Voodoo. Altogether, it made for a sweaty and sexy affair. And it was captured through the lens of our own photographer Manuel Frayre. Check out his photos from the party in the slideshow above.
