Astronautalis Links Up With Gayngs, Doomtree, Bon Iver and Polica as Marijuana Deathsquads.

Between Gayngs, Doomtree and those two collectives' many, many affiliated projects (Bon Iver, Polica, Megafaun, The Rosebuds, Har Mar Superstar, Dessa, P.O.S., Sims, etc.), the Minneapolis music scene is kind of out-of-control great these days. Honestly, Dallasites should just consider themselves fortunate to even have an tangential connection to it all in the form of Astronautalis, the similarly mind-blowingly great rapper and talent who cut his teeth performing around North Texas while he was a student at Southern Methodist University.

Anyway, that may all be fine and good, but there's a reason we're bringing all this up.

Today, Gayngs mastermind Ryan Olson released his latest entry into the musical ether, in which he combines literally all of the above performers' talents into one hellishly fantastic and grimy electronic blend. Released under the impossibly awesome Marijuana Deathsquads moniker, the free-to-download mixtape is called Tamper. Disable. Destroy.

It's pretty incredible — especially the track “Top Down,” which features Polica singer Channy Leaneagh lilting over an absurd Olson beat before Astronautalis appears and goes straight HAM all over its face. Listen to that track below. Then go grab the whole damn thing here.
