Drop It Like It’s Hot With Snoop Dogg At House Of Blues, Daydream With Big Story At Trees And Be A Winnebago Warrior With Dead Kennedys At The Rail Club.

Happy Friday y’all! If you’re not already reading this post while you’re lined up for Star Wars Episode VIII: The Return of the Jedi, then you could be gearing up for all of the collective activities going on all weekend.

A lot of the nerds in line next to you might also be talking about how the FCC voted yesterday to repeal net neutrality by a vote of three to two.  What does that mean exactly? Essentially, internet service providers such as AT&T and Comcast would be able to charge you not only for access to the web but also add charges to sites like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc.

The rules that were in place before Thursday’s vote basically said that internet providers like AT&T, Comcast, etc. had to treat all websites and services equally, regardless of popularity or importance.

Now, you may be thinking all hope is lost, but the battle to fully repeal net neutrality is long from over. Several states have already prepared to launch a lawsuit agains the FCC for its vote today. There’s also the matter of Congress being able to make laws and there’s a midterm election next November…

Anyhow, you can still enjoy all the internet — and Central Track — you can handle, so feel free to peruse the following list of weekend events and plan accordingly. — Kelly Benjamin
