Scoping Out The 2012 Dallas Auto Show Scene.

Once again, the annual Dallas Auto Show has come and gone, and without a single glimpse of the flying car anywhere. No teaser, no rumor, not even a plastic prototype.

Oh well. Maybe next year.

It wasn't all disappointing, though. Hardly. The show, which ran for four days in the Dallas Convention Center and wrapped yesterday evening, had plenty of flash to its offerings, with some 35 automobile manufacturers putting their latest and greatest designs on display for all to see.

And there was plenty to gawk at, for sure — enough so where those who don't quite consider themselves car enthusiasts (myself included) could still find something worthwhile to take in on the showroom floor.

I mean, c'mon. Who doesn't like chrome?
