Jam An Exclusive Mix From DJ Colly T.

Back in October, amid a flurry of DJ residency shakeups around town, opportunity came knocking at Colin Theall's door.

The young DJ, who spins around town as DJ Colly T, was tapped to take over Beauty Bar's Thursday night weekly — a weekly that, previously, had boasted DJs of significantly more experience.

But Theall wasn't about to let the chance go to waste. Not at all.

And, to his credit, Theall's weekly, called VIBE, has certainly established itself as a go-to dance destination in the cluttered DJ residency landscape of the city.

“It's been really unbelievable,” Theall says of his almost five-month-long run at the Henderson Avenue dance spot. “This is my first weekly and I've learned a ton about the business, what people like to see and hear, what I like and how to turn heads. We've had some really crazy nights; the Track Meet versus Dropclock thing was one of the coolest parties I've ever been to, let alone been a part of. Everyone that was in or near the bar was sweating and dancing, and we even managed to throw together a really badass after-party at the last minute.”

So, OK, times have been good. But, far as Theall's concerned, this all's just the start.

“Moving forward, I'd like to see more people come to know VIBE as an unusual night, a party that's never the same, where out-of-the-ordinary shit happens,” he says. “It hasn't gone at all like I'd expected, and I'd like it to continue that way. Every week has been a new experience and it continues to surprise me. And there's some really weird stuff coming up.”

For instance? Well, Theall promises new guests at VIBE, more collaborations with other DJs and even future production projects that he's working on. He also teases another monthly residency he has in the works — but one that he can't reveal too many details on just yet.

For now, though, he assures us that his focus is completely squared on VIBE. And, to that end, he passes along the below mix as an exclusive to Central Track readers — one that's sure to bring you out of your mid-workweek doldrums in advance of his regular Thursday night offerings.

Says Theall of the mix: “This is definitely a good example of what you'd hear on any given Thursday, although it does have a few more remixes thrown in. I love the look on people's faces when they hear something recognizable and start singing along, only to be caught completely off-guard by a new sound or bass line. It's exciting to be a part of that.”

Check it out. And, hey, download it if you want. It's perfect for sweating on the go.
