SMU Drops 72 Points on Houston, Breaks Records at Both Schools.

There's no denying that this has been an up and down football year for Your Southern Methodist University Mustangs.

Last night, however, things certainly fell quite clearly on the positive side of the spectrum, as the team welcomed the University of Houston Cougars to Gerald J. Ford Stadium by eliciting nine turnovers from their guests. In the end, all that action resulted in a 72-42 romp with SMU as the victor. The decision brings both teams to a 3-4 record on the season.

But, more important, take note of those 72 points scored: That''s the highest point total the Mustangs have ever registered in a single outing. It's the most the Cougars have ever given up in a single game, too.

Says U of H head coach Tony Levine of the defeat: “That was embarrassing.”

Says SMU head coach June Jones of the win: “That's pretty exciting.”

Pony up. Check out the highlights from the game below.
